JSMARS Planetary WebGIS

JavaScript Mission-planning and Analysis for Remote Sensing

JSMARS is an open-source, browser-native planetary geographic information system (GIS) developed by Dr. M. Anwar Sounny-Slitine. Built with pure ES Modules and zero build step, it provides instant access to planetary cartography, elevation profiles, 3D WebGL terrain, and scientific modeling across Mars, the Moon, Earth, and Europa without heavy desktop installations.

Inspired by the JMARS desktop application developed by Arizona State University's Mars Space Flight Facility.

🪐 Multi-Body Exploration

Live USGS Astrogeology, NASA Trek, OpenPlanetary, and NASA GIBS layers across Mars, the Moon, Earth, and Europa with fuzzy IAU landmark search.

🛰️ Lunar Base Site Planner

South-pole 20 m/px & 100 m/px LRO LOLA DEM workbench with PSR overlays, Euclidean flat-area search, DXF/SVG CAD import, and OBJ/GeoTIFF/DXF export.

🔬 Transparent Science Models

1D KRC subsurface thermal solver, MCD v6.1 atmospheric profiler, Hartmann-Neukum CSFD crater dating, and clearly badged physical simulations.
